Genevieve lives the life of a shy, neurotic book editor, avoiding her colleagues and trying to become the next ghostwriter for her publisher’s most popular crime novel series. But no one, not even her therapist, knows that Genevieve has a secret battle with dissociative identity disorder (DID). Although her life at home and in public is a constant fight to avoid stress that might trigger her dissociations, the series and its casual portrayal of DID begin to trouble Genevieve as she is inundated with flashes of memories she had no part in creating. She is worried about how dangerous she and her alter “Stevie” could be, and discovers clues to the horrors they may have been involved in. Genevieve comes dangerously close to the secrets of her past, falling into horrific hallucinations as she gets closer to the source of her trauma and the answer to the question she has always dreaded: What happened to Genevieve?
